Principal Function:
Provide music for worship service, weddings, funerals and other events as may be determined. Must have organ, piano, and electronic keyboard skills. Must have the ability to take the lead and/or be willing to follow another’s lead.

• Basic Expectations
• Play/Sight – read hymns at Worship Planning Team meetings.
• Send Audio/Visual (AV) person words to hymns if not in United Methodist Hymnal or supplements, or consult with AV person regarding words for songs.
• Stay current with United Methodist Global Board of Discipleship web-site music articles and suggestions.
• Provide accompaniment for the weekly principal worship services, as well as other worship events during the Advent-Christmas and Lent-Easter seasons.
• Stay current and up-to-date on music trends and resources, especially United Methodist supplements.
• Play for weddings and funerals, as needed at your own discretion. Compensation for these events is provided by the family involved.
• Work with Worship Planning Team to fill Ministry of Music slots for each week and special services. Rehearse with and accompany individuals/groups if needed. Send schedule to Pastor, secretary, and musicians.
• Select music to be played for pre-service, offertory and/or postlude and send to secretary and AV person.
• Purchase music for the services (prelude, offertory and postlude) within budgeted amount. (Retain personal ownership.)

Time Expectations

Sunday worship services, special services during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter seasons and other events as may be determined.

Attend Worship Planning Team meetings and choir rehearsals as scheduled. Make recorded parts for soloists, choir members or specific music parts for at home practice if needed.

Maintain a practice schedule.
