Organist/Accompanist (W)

Reports to the Traditional Music Leader and Contemporary Music Leader

Purpose: To glorify God through music by providing organ and piano music for worship services and other church functions and by working collaboratively with the worship ministry team.

1. Plan, prepare, and play organ/piano music for traditional worship service, which includes the Prelude, Offertory, Postlude, and hymn/song accompaniment.

2. Provide organ/piano music at special services, including midweek services (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, etc.)

3. Accompany the Chancel Choir for Traditional worship service as well as Sunday and midweek rehearsals.

4. Accompany the Praise Team for Contemporary worship service as well as Sunday and midweek rehearsals.

5. Rehearse and accompany soloists and instrumentalists when requested.

6. Play for weddings and funerals if available and receive compensation for services as arranged.

7. Arrange for qualified substitute organist or pianist when unable to be present and to notify the Traditional Music Leader and the Contemporary Music Leader in advance.

8. Report the need for organ and piano maintenance and repair in a timely manner to the Traditional Music Leader.

Note: Midweek rehearsals for the Chancel Choir and the Praise Team are not held during summer months.

The organ is a Rodgers Westminster 890, 3 Manual, installed in early 1988.
The piano is a Young Chang grand piano.

Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Stewardship and Personnel Cornerstone with recommendations from the Pastor, Traditional Music Leader, Contemporary Music Leader and the Music and Worship Cornerstone. The Stewardship and Personnel Cornerstone will annually review salary compensation.
